A few things to know

While it is a hands-on modality, MLD is different from massage. MLD focuses on effectively pumping lymph by manipulating the skin and surface layers of your body rather than pressing into deeper layers like massage.
You will be dressed for the session and no oil will be used.
Hydration is key! Plan to drink about 20oz of water 90 minutes before your session and bring water to drink afterwards.

MLD is not for everyone. If you are undergoing active treatment for cancer or are experiencing uncontrolled heart disease, acute infection, fever, systemic infection, cellulitis, dermatitis, skin wounds/lesions, deep vein thrombosis, blood clots, renal impairment or kidney disease, MLD is not a good match for you. You may benefit from a different modality or seek a lymphedema therapist for support. Please reach out with any questions.
